The purpose of the Code is to set out the standards expected from the members in their dealings with clients, company officials and other members. It demonstrates to clients and sponsors the level of professionalism that is expected.
The Code applies to all members and their employees.
The terms of the code are as follows.
- Always act with integrity and honesty
- Avoid misrepresenting yourself, your skills or the functionality and capability of websites you create
- Respond to customer enquiries promptly and courteously
- Handle any complaints fairly and speedily
- Provide an initial business consultancy to identify and address the customer’s needs free of charge
- Ensure that the client is offered appropriate training on all products supplied
- Respect client confidentiality
- Act in a manner that upholds the reputation of the Web Group
- Support the aims and objectives of the Web Group
- Create websites that comply with best practise
- Advise clients of the best solution to meet their needs
- Ensure clients are aware of their responsibilities with regard to having a website
- Promote website compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act
- Keep up to date with new technology and best practice
- Support fellow members
- Respond to all requests for information by the Web Group concerning their referrals of business
- Maintain Professional Indemnity Insurance cover of at least the minimum level required for eligibility.
- Report any breaches of the Code by yourself or others to the Web Group as soon as possible
